Togo, Benin owe Nigeria $14m for electricity, says FG

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has said that none of the four international bilateral customers being supplied power by the generation companies in the Nigerian electricity supply industry made payment against the cumulative invoice of $14.19m issued by the market operator for services rendered in the first quarter of 2024. The companies are Para-SBEE in Benin Republic ($3.15m), Transcorp-SBEE in Benin ($4.46m), Mainstream-NIGELEC in Togo ($1.21m), and Odukpani-CEET in Togo ($5.36m).

Court jails two persons for vandalizing IE transformer

The Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ejigbo, Lagos State, has handed down sentences to two individuals - Abubakar Alido and Ishola Olatunji for vandalizing transformers belonging to Ikeja Electric Plc. Abubakar Alido received a one-year sentence for vandalizing a 500KVA transformer on Michael Aladesuyi Street, Egbeda, under the Omo Osho 11KV Feeder, while Ishola Olatunji was sentenced to six months for attempting to vandalize a transformer on Karimu Laka Street, Egbeda, under the Orelope 11KV Feeder.

Egbin Power Plc, Nigeria’s largest Electricity Generation Company (GenCo), has been certified to three ISO standards.The certifications are ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environment Management System), and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System). The certifications underscore the power firm's commitment to operational standards and quality management systems, the management said.
