Police Burst Intra-State Illegal Arms Syndicate

A carefully concealed catches of illegal arms and ammunition hidden in a sack of garri, routed to Onitsha, Anambra State, by a suspected illegal arms smuggling network, has been nabbed by Police.

•Vehicle snatcher

The suspicious cargo, was under surveillance by CSP Chike Oti, led Satellite Police Station, Lagos, after a credible intelligence was receivedon 24 of July, 2019, at about 11.15am, that a bag containing a suspicious item that was smuggle into a motor park, for onward transfer to Onitsha, Anambra State by unknown persons.

Based on the said credible information source, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Oti, was said to have deployed and led his surveillance team to the motor park at Maza Maza , near Mile 2, Lagos, where the bag was recovered.

Upon searching the bag, 50 rounds of .38mm live ammunition hidden inside a garri dust was said to have been recovered.

According to the police Spokes Man, DSP Bala Elkana, ” female who claimed that the bag was given to her by a Man in Ojo area to deliver to someone at Onitsha was arrested and she is helping the Police with useful information. ”

However, DSP Elkana, stated that the case has been transferred to SARS for further investigation.

In a related development, an inter – state car snatching Suspect has been arrested and the stolen vehicle recovered

According to the police Account, On the 26th July, 2019, at about 7.30am, one Amachi Ude   of 15 Egbin road, Shibiri ,Lagos ,reported at Ilemba Hausa Police Station, that his LT Bus with Registration No JJE 713 XH,  was stolen by unknown thieves from where it was parked along Etegbin Road.

A team of detectives led by Inspector Kehinde Kareem,was said to have swung into action and visited all the mechanic workshops and scraps sellers workshops within the area without success.

Acting on credible information, investigation was extended to Atan axis of Ogun state, where the vehicle was recovered and one Yomi Olajide , aged 39 years,  of No 14 Oremeji Street, Toll Gate , Ogun state, was arrested while driving the said vehicle.

In his confessional statement, Olajide, stated that he stole the bus with one Jamiu  (surname unknown), of Tollgate Area, Ogun state, who has escaped.

The suspect narrated how they came to remove the said vehicle from where it was parked with their master key, which the Police also recovered from him.                                                              DSP Elkana said that the suspect will be charge to court, while the police has intensified effort to apprehend the second suspect.
