Otti Flags-off “Enough is Enough” Campaign

All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, says he and his supporters would ensure that results of the 2019 governorship contest in Abia released at the polling booths tallied with the central results in order to guard against a repeat of his 2015 experience.

Otti who stated this at the Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia while launching his governorship campaign, however, noted that Abians have to play a major role in enthroning a people-oriented government in the state, saying the state has been in the hands of godfathers while accusing the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of misusing the state’s resources for the past 21 years.

Otti who christened his campaign “Enough is enough,” said his reason for coming to the church was for the blessing of his manifesto because of his faith in God but ended up kicking off his campaign there, noted that it was time for change in Abia to give the people a new lease of life.

“I have presented the first copy of my manifesto to the church today, we want to develop the State. The theme of our campaign is Enough is enough, we are telling Abia People that enough is enough,

“We have gone through a lot of rot in this State, it is time to bring the change and we must do that with our people and the time is now because we cannot continue like this. We are the worst State in Nigeria in terms of infrastructural development. The roads are not there and we have money, it is about money not being used for the purpose for what is meant to be used for. My message is for Abia people to rise up and say enough is enough,” Otti told journalists during an interview.

He called on the electorate in Abia to be vigilant; urging them to come out and vote and equally protect their votes. According to him, the people would be the ultimate beneficiaries, saying he was to establish a government for the people,

Otti said he believed that there would not be a repeat of his 2015 experience because people were wiser now.
“First of all, people are wiser now; secondly, what happened in 2015 would not happen again in 2019. We will make everything possible to ensure that the results released at the polling units are reflected in the central result.

He added that he has observed how elections were conducted in the last couple of years, assuring that “the process of writing results cannot happen anymore,” while urging the electorate to collectively protect their votes.

Earlier, in his sermon, the Cathedral administrator of Mater Dei Cathedral, Rev. Fr. David Aguneri, encouraged politicians to be honest in their campaign promises and advised electorate not to sell their votes.

While advocating for the spirit of sportsmanship and peaceful campaigns, Aguneri frowned that the society was gradually deteriorating and urged Otti to be wise as many people who claimed to be supporting him might be there to enrich their pockets.
