Okada ban: Solar Engineer to provide 5000 Jobs in Anambra 


As a backdrop of the ban of motorcycle transport popularly known as Okada in Onitsha and Awka, an Onitsha based Engineer Dr Arthur Anthony Okeyika CEO Arthur Energy Technology Ltd, who specialises on Solar Energy Technology has initiated moves to provide alternative means of transportation and many other job opportunities through provision of Solar Powered Tricycle known as Keke in large quantity and at affordable price.

Dr. Okeyika also stated that he also intend to establish solar charging and maintenance stations in the state to create numerous numbers of Jobs and training opportunity for training population of unemployed youths in Anambra State.

Addressing a press conference in Onitsha, Dr. Okeyika revealed that he has made concrete arrangement with his foreign technical partners to build an assembly plant where he will assemble fuel free Keke (Hybrid Electric, Solar Powered Tricycles) and solar training centre for youths empowerment.

He explained, “what I am saying is that I have a product that can perfectly server as alternative means of transportation in place of the banned Okada transport in Onitsha and Awka.

“The product is Keke that uses Solar Energy in place of fuel. It derives power from the sun, and the battery can be recharged through electricity. It moves and operates on any road like the ones that use fuel.

“The Solar Keke is very economic as the operator saves up to N850, 000 on fuel and maintenance to compare with the fuel powered Keke,” he added.
