The Air Task Force (ATF) of the Operation Lafiya Dole has decimated a location at Boboshe on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, being used by Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) as a meeting venue.
The attack was conducted on Sunday, October 13th 2019, following successive days of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, coupled with human intelligence reports, that established that a building within the settlement was being used as a rendezvous by the BHTs where their commanders assemble to take instructions before launching attacks against own troops and innocent civilians.
According to Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, the ATF detailed its fighter aircraft to attack the hideout, scoring accurate hits within the designated area leading to the decimation of the targeted structure. Several BHTs were also killed as a result of the strikes.
The statement stressed that NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its efforts to completely destroy all remnants of the terrorists in the Northeast.
Similarly, over the weekend, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai reiterated the Nigerian Army’s resolve to fully support the ongoing peace process between the government of Zamfara State and the bandits to succeed.
Buratai made the remarks when he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor in Gusau, Zamfara state, expressing confidence in the peace process as an opportunity for the unrepentant bandits to lay down their arms and key into the peace process.
He used the opportunity to call on the bandits to hand over their weapons; otherwise they will be faced with aggressive and offensive operations.
