The Police in Lagos have quizzed a mentally derailed man, Badejo Adewale, who set his victim ablaze by pouring on him Petrol and ignited it with a stick of matches.
The victim, Mr Bolatito Farook Kadara, who police said was recuperating at the Lagos Island General Hospital, was at about 7am on the 8th of January, 2020, allegedly set ablaze at Hogan Basset Street, Surulere, Lagos, by a man suspected to be mentally derailed.
According to the Police, the victim’s sister, one Adeola Kadara of No 13 Aiyeleto Street, Surulere reported at Surulere Police Station that she received an information that on January 8, 2020, her brother one Bolatito Farook Kadara, was set ablaze at Hogan Bassey Street Surulere and was taken to Lagos Island General hospital.
Police confirmed that its detectives have visited the scene and proceeded to island hospital where the victim was seen recuperating.
Kadara was said to have made a statement to the police and narrated how one Badejo Adewale, who is mentally deranged, poured petrol on him and ignited it.
Police investigation was extended to Psychiatric Hospital Yaba, Lagos, where the suspect was admitted.
Efforts made by the police detectives to interview the suspect, proved abortive as he could not utter a word.
In a related development, Police said it evacuated a 22years old mentally deranged girl to Psychiatric hospital for treatment
On January 8, 2020 at about 2. 30 pm, one Apostle Samuel Sonaiki of Celestial Church, Cele bus stop, Itowolo Ikorodu Road, Lagos, reported at Owode Onirin Police Station that a girl of about 22years old was seen misbehaving along Itowolo Ikorodu road.
A team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer were said to have visited the uncompleted building where the girl was seen. She was taken to Neolife Hospital at Olakunle Street, Thomas bus stop Owode Onirin for medical attention.
Police said that in the girls lucid period, she was able to give her name as Chinyere Christopher. She equally gave details of her parents, who were contacted accordingly.
She was however confirmed to be a psychiatric patient from Akure, Ondo State and has eventually been moved to Akure for the continuation of her psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation.
