In one of Houston’s weirder moments of 2019, megachurch pastor Joel Osteen hosted Kanye West at Lakewood Church in Houston over the weekend.
The pair of events Sunday were about as surreal as you might expect. At one point during West’s 20-minute speech Sunday morning, he told the crowd that “the greatest artist that God ever created is working for Him.”
At another point, West basically asked one particularly vocal member of the audience to be quiet.
“I go into these streams of consciousness when I’m talking, and when you speaking in the middle of it, it distracts me,” West said. “I really appreciate the support, but I would like for everybody to be completely silent so I can let God flow through me as I speak to you guys today.”
As you might imagine, social media had a field day with Ye’s appearance.
From Kanye’s “humble” proclamation to Osteen’s own controversial past in the Bayou City, nothing was off limits.
