INEC Committed to Conduct Free, Fair Elections, Says Kano Resident Electoral Officer


The Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Professor Risqua Arabi Shehu says 3,456 Ad-hoc staff were recruited for the conduct of forthcoming rerun elections in the state.

Professor Risqua disclosed this at the stakeholders meeting, which held in INEC headquarters in Kano.

He said INEC was committed in ensuring free and fair election.

The commissioner pointed out the staff of the commission will be served as Supervisors Officials noting that Collation Officers are to be appointed by the National Headquarters of the commission.

Risqua lamented that during the rerun election no Corp member will be posted to Bebeji Local Govt for security reasons.
He stressed that INEC will conduct free fair and credible election.
In a remark the Kano State Commissioner of Police Habu Ahmad Sani said all arrangements and modalities towards the success of the election were put in place.

He said the security agencies have supervised all the 60 registration Areas were the election would be holding, as the commissioner warned politicians against any means of violence.

The rerun elections in Kano will be conducted on the Saturday 25th January this year in 60 registration Areas across 9 Affected Local Govt Areas with included the total number of 414,923 registered voters in 698 Polling Units across the state.
