IMPERSONATION:  PCRC Members Who Conducted Illegal Arrest as SARS Operatives Sent to Prison

Two alleged fake members of the Police Community Relations Committee PCRC, who impersonated as Police Special Anti Robbery Squad Operatives SARS, has been remanded in Kirikiri Prison, where they are said to be cooling off their heels.

The suspects, 45-year-old Ikechukwu Victor and Emeka Ewuzie, who are residents of Nos. 2 Igi Street, Bariga and 30 Okuta street, Ladylack Road, Bariga, respectively, were alleged to have committed the said offence on October 29, 2019.

They were said to have been accosted by the CSP Lasisi Iyunade, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led team from Ifako Police Division Lagos.

The arrest which took place at about 10.am on the said date, happened when some eagle-eyed Operatives, sighted men dressed in black T-Shirts with the inscription of SARS boldly written, along Julius Kadiri Street Ifako, Gbagada.

When confronted, the suspects were said to have claimed to be SARS Operatives, on their way to effect an arrest at Bakare Daudu market.

On further questioning, they claimed to be members of PCRC from Victoria Island, Lagos.

Two fake PCRC ID card bearing same names were said to have been recovered from them.

Suspects were charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Home.
