Like a script taken from a Hollywood movie, five aggrieved employees of an Hotel in Lagos, are to face murder charges over their alleged roles in the gruesome killing of their Managing Director and Business Manager inside the hotel.
Three staff and two contract staff of Etashol Hotel and Suites located in Ojodu area of Lagos State hatched the carefully planned murder, according to the police account.
Police investigation revealed that the suspects, Henry Lolo, Ehizojie Vincent Jeffrey, Okechi Light Ezi and two other contract staff identified as “Dubai” and “Dangote”, had on January 25th, 2019, murdered Etashol Hotel Business Manager, Tunji Omikunle and the Managing Director, Olusola Olusoga, in a robbery plot that went awry.
To perfect their robbery plot and keep other staff off their way, the suspects were said to have appointed Lolo to prepare a fast food called ‘Indomie’, a delicacy loved by all staff members.
The Indomie was alleged to have been laced with sleep inducing stimulant called ‘S.K’ and was served to the rest of the staff that were not part of the plot.
Having successfully sent the rest of the staff to early sleep, except the murdered Business Manager, who was said to have slept before he could be served with the poisoned Indomie, the suspects made a failed attempt to steal the keys to their Managing Director’s room from the sleeping manager’s pocket.
The late manager, who was said to have suddenly woken up, engaged the suspects in a struggle that led to his being strangled to death at the hotel reception.
Disappointed when they did not find the keys with him, the suspects were said to have gone upstairs and forced open their boss room, where they met her in a shock.
They allegedly tied her hands and legs before stealing her N50, 000, jewelleries and other personal effects, which the suspects could not take away for fear of being apprehended by the police team stationed near the hotel. However, police said before the suspects had finished their robbery, the woman was dead.
Speaking on the motive behind the alleged crime, Jeffery, the only suspect arrested by the police in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, where he was said to have gone to take refuge, confessed that all the suspects were aggrieved that they had no future in the company, because their boss was miserly, hence the agreement to rob and take her local and foreign currency, being that she just came back from London.
Parading the suspect at the Command headquarters in Ikeja, on Monday February 4th, 2019, the Lagos State Commissioner of police, Mr Edgal Imohimi, stated that a prima facie case of conspiracy and murder have been established against the suspects, following Jeffery’s confession and further evidence collected from the hotel CCTV footage, which he said showed the roles each of the suspects played in the crime.
Assuring that efforts were on top gear to apprehend the fleeing suspects, he said Jeffery would soon be charged to court for murder.
