Fayemi’s Wife, DSI Bring Free Healthcare Service to Ekiti People



The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has led a team of healthcare professionals and top government functionaries among others to bring to the doorstep of Ekiti people free healthcare services provided by the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led Ekiti State government in collaboration with the Development Support Initiative (DSI).

Erelu Fayemi, who enjoined the hundreds of excited beneficiaries of the free healthcare scheme to ensure that they obey medical counsels offered them by the healthcare professionals, assured that the gesture from the state Government would continue in order to ensure that all irrespective of their economic and social status are healthy.

Speaking in Ise Ekiti, Ise-Orun Local Government Area of the state during the exercise on Tuesday, held at the palace of Arinjale of Ise, Oba Ajayi Adetunji Ayodele, Erelu Fayemi said: ” This free health is not new to us, we had it during the first tenure of Dr Kayode Fayemi.

“During our campaign last year it was one of his promises. And we are pleased to be here today in Ise where the programme is taking place in collaboration with Ekiti state Government and the DSI.

“I am also pleased that our people have trooped out in large numbers to benefit from the ante natal care, have their eyes attended to, genotype testing and other medical test, advice and treatment and I enjoin them to make sure that they obey the doctors who have given them medical counsels today.

“I am hopeful that this will continue on a regular basis and also urge our people to listen to advise by healthcare professionals on how to maintain better healthy living conditions.

“Let us ensure that all the medical advice given are adhere to , whatever you are asked to do please ensure you do them and those you are told not to do please desist from doing them, ” she advised.

Oba Ajayi, while responding to the gesture from the state government said that the Governor Kayode Fayemi’s competence to develop Ekiti is not in doubt, adding that: “We appreciate your effort in rising to the challenge of insecurity in the state, particularly in this part of the state, the Ikere/Ise Road where armed robbers and kidnappers had help us hostage. The state government under Fayemi had promptly ensured that adequate security was provided and that has wiped off the criminal incidents in the area.

” We urge the Government to assist us to clear 10 metres to expand the roads linking the local government areas in Ekiti south and other parts of the state. We are sure that Governor Fayemi will do this because he has so promised,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries of the free healthcare services was Mrs Ibukun Kolawole who just delivered a baby through Caesarean operation at Ogbese Basic health centre, Ogbese in Ise/Orun LGA. She thanked the state government profusely for the assistance.
