BREAKING: Two Nigerian Jets Crash in Abuja


•Airforce Confirms death of one pilot•

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Friday evening confirmed that one of the pilots who was ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier had passed on.

“It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on. May his soul RIP. Additional details on the incident will be communicated later,” the spokesman for NAF, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, stated while giving update on the incident.

Earlier, NAF had confirmed that the air accident involving two Nigerian Air Force jets taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebrations crashed in Abuja.

It will recalled that residents of Abuja have expressed worry over the closeness to the roof of their houses of these Airforce jets in the past few days.

“I wish to confirm an air incident involving two Nigerian Air Force aircraft taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day celebrations.

“Thankfully no lives were lost. Details will be communicated later,” the air force spokesperson, Ibikunle Daramola, said in a short message sent to the media.

The accident, according to sources happened in Katampe Hills in Abuja.

The two pilots were said to have ejected from the aircraft.

Witnesses also saw several first aid responders heading to the area.
