For the Fasasi family, it appears that stealing runs in their blood. No thanks to 26 years old Abiodun and his 21 years old younger brother Ibrahim, who were caught in the act, during a movie like gang star motorcycle robbery operation in Lagos.
The brothers along side Clark Chidiebere and other fleeing members of their gang, had on January 31,2019, hatched a plot and invaded a Badagry, Lagos based company known as Distance Ventures, where they held the owner and his customers hostage, while dispossessing them of their valuables.
Unfortunately for the gang, a team of the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) based at Mowo near Badagry, were said to have received information about the robbery and moved swiftly to the scene.
On sighting the operatives, the robbers were said to have started shooting sporadically as they retreated.
However the SARS operatives were said to have engaged them in gun duel but the superior firepower of the police were said to have subdued the robbers, leading to their surrender and subsequent arrest of Clark and Fasasi brothers on Gbagi River, while the other members escaped by jumping into the river.
Police said it recovered an unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle, cut to size double and single barrels gun with five live cartridges.
In a related development, two members of the gang that allegedly invaded Equitable Estate located at Egbalere area of Ikorodu on January 5th, 2019,have been arrested.
The suspects, Olaseun Ishiaka, Mufutawo Aleshinloye and Ganiyu Rabiu, were alleged to have been part of the robbers that invaded the Estate and escaped in a Nissan Xtera with Registration numbers AJJ 281 DC, which they were said to have snatched from a resident.
According to the police account, the suspects had abandoned the said jeep at Itaelewa junction, when a SARS team based at Ikorodu, who were working on information they had received, gave the robbers a hot chase.
When the abandoned vehicle was recovered and inspected, Operatives retrieved an exhibit left behind by the fleeing robbers which they said was analysed and clue gotten, led to the arrest of the gang leader, Ishiaka, who later led police to their hideout, where the aforementioned two suspects were arrested.
Police said it recovered a cut to size locally made double barrel gun with five live cartridges, one inverter current Generator, Stabilizer, pressing iron, cutlass, three wristwatches, Samsung S8 phone and a Nissan xtera jeep.
