Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade was on Saturday screened and cleared to seek re-election as governor of the state by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship screening committee.
A statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, said the governor appeared in person before the screening committee which sat at the party’s zonal office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The chairman of the committee, Hon. Dr. Muraina Ajibola and the secretary, Rt. Hon. Boyele Debekeme, ushered the governor, who arrived the venue of the exercise at about 3.10pm, in.
According to the statement, once the governor was screened and cleared, he immediately left for Calabar where he got a tumultuous welcome by his supporters and party members at the Margaret Ekpo Int’l Airport, after touching down at about 6.15pm.
After the airport reception, proceeded to receive his colleague governor and PDP presidential aspirant, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State on a courtesy call.
At the event, the PDP presidential aspirant and former speaker of the House of Representatives said Ayade has the best ideas of governance in the country.
