Super Eagle World Cup highest goal scorer, Ahmed Musa is not showing any sign that he wants to slow down as far as the round leather game is concerned.
The Super Eagles’ prolific World Cup striker despite the three time African champions first round exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, will today be in action in a charity match with international teammate, Shehu Abdullahi in Sokoto.
Musa it will be recalled was Nigeria’s most outstanding player at the tournament scoring two goals in the win against Iceland which has endeared him to many clubs across Europe and Asia following his exploit against debutants, Iceland.
It is true that the speedster couldn’t replicate that feat in Nigeria’s dramamtic loss to Argentina at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, that notwithstanding, Ahmed Musa has become the toast of global football as clubs are now head over to sign him even as his English Premier League club Leicester City have made it known that they are not ready to part with him yet.
Musa is therefore, joining Shehu Abdullahi for this charity game just nine days after the heartbreaking loss to Argentina who themselves are also at home after they suffered a 3-2 lost to France in the round of 16.
This charity match which Musa and Abdullaihi are taking part today will hold at the Sokoto Township Stadium between Team Musa and Team Shehu.
Shehu Abdullahi made his World Cup debut in Russia, but featured just once; in the 2-0 defeat to Croatia.
Musa it is recalled became the first Nigerian to have scored in two World Cups and in each occasion, he had two goals to his credit. These two goals in two different World Cups are always scored against same team.
It was Musa in 2014 World Cup in Brazil that cancelled Lionel Messi’s first goal and even when the five time World Footballer of the Year scored again, Musa came to the rescue once again, in Russia it was Musa who scored two of Nigeria’s three goals and they were against Iceland.
