Tragedy struck at the weekend when a 65-year-old senior media executive died on top of a 34-year lady, Ifeoma Ayinka, an indigene of Agu-ukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State where the man reportedly hailed from too.
The late executive whose name was simply given as Mr Obi Nwuda was also identified as a former Managing Director of a state media establishment in Awka.
The sad event, police and eyewitnesses told our correspondent checked into an Awka-based hotel-Desires and Leisure Hotel located along the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway at the popular Ikenga Hotels junction at the weekend for a romp. Curiously when the lady was leaving and looking unsettled, hasty and disheveled, the hotel staff became suspicious. They consequently accosted her on the fate of the man who she had checked in with. She further fidgeted and a call on the intercom was made to the room but it was unanswered. So after several attempts the staff were compelled to return to the room alongside the lady who was at this time near hysterical.
It was at this point they raised alarm and invited the police from ‘B’ Division, Arroma Awka who subsequently contacted the homicide division from the State Command headquarters.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Haruna Mohammed, in Jos statement noted that, “At about 8:15pm on 10/11/2018, there was a report by the management of Desires and Leisure Hotel Agu Awka at ‘B’ Division that on the same date at about 5pm, one Ifeoma Ayinka ‘F’, aged 34 years of Agu-Ukwu in Aniocha LGA who came to lodge in the hotel with One Obi Nwoda ‘M’ aged 65 years of the same address, was leaving the hotel premises without the said man and when confronted and taken back to the hotel room, they discovered that the man was lying unconscious on the bed.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, the scene was visited by Police Patrol team attached to ‘B’ division led by the DPO, CSP Odion Ekeinde, and the victim was rushed to Apex Hospital Awka where he was confirmed dead on arrival by the medical Doctor. His corpse was photographed and deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.”
The lady, the statement added, had admitted that the victim collapsed while they were making love. She has since been arrested while investigation had commenced.
Guests and staff have since deserted the hotel for fear of arrest and police harassment
