Grief over Couple’s Assassination in Obosi

Reactions have continued to trail the mystery murder of a couple in Obosi, Idemili North local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to some prominent citizens, who spoke to journalists in Obosi, human lives seem not to be valued any longer as people continued to be slaughtered like fowl.

The villagers said the death of   husband and wife, who were on Monday murdered in cold blood by yet to be arrested assailants suspected to have been contracted by some people believed to have land issue(s) with the man is the height of senseless killings in the state.

The murderers invaded the couple’s house at Umuota village Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the State, turned the resident of the deceased into drama scene as both passers-by and their neighbours gathered in groups trying to reconstruct the ugly act.

It was said that the assailants operated without the intervention of either the police or the local vigilance group even as the place of the murder is few meters to the Palace of His Majesty, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Obosi).

According to sources, the killers invaded the deceased house in the midnight. According to them, the assailants struck immediately people had gone as neighbours heard gunshots, and at the end the bodies of Mr./Mrs. Charles Ifekandu lay in the pool of blood.

“Obosi has become a den to the robbers and notorious criminals and this gives the community headache and sleepless night,” they revealed.

They called on the state government and law enforcement agencies in the State to come to their assistance of Obosi people and checkmate this deadly crimes emanating from Obosi land sellers and youths of the community

It was authoritatively gathered that among other tenants of the yard, only Charles Ifekandu and his wife were murdered and no pin was removed from their apartment while other tenants were neither hurt nor even questioned by the assailants.

A family source of the deceased confided with the newsmen stated that there has been a rancho between the immediate family members of Charles Ifekandu. Our impeccable source said the killer(s) of the couple might likely originate within their family.

“Am aware that there have been aged long differences in the immediate family of the deceased and one is left to suspect that what happened to the husband and wife might not be far from their immediate family”, our source stated.

Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed when contacted in his GSM line said his office have been briefed, noting that police has spread their drag net aimed at netting in the killers even as he appeared to members of the public to assist the police with useful information that would help them in arresting those involved in the barbaric act.
