Ekiti 2018: IGP Assures of Security During and After Election

In view of the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election on Saturday, 14th of July 2018, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris has assured the law-abiding citizens to be calm.

The IGP, who was represented by the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command said that the Force has mobilised human and material assets in partnership with other security agencies to provide adequate security   for the entry and exit routes of Kogi, Kwara, Osun and Ondo States to ensure low crime profile before, during and after the election.

This was contained in the release made available to the press, which further assured that
the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has assured that it is fully prepared to deal with hoodlums,  miscreants,  political thugs and criminal elements who might want to take undue advantage to derail or cause panic during the electoral process.
“To this end, the force has deployed thirty thousand (30,000) personnel drawn from various state commands which include Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Niger, Kebbi, Kwara, Jigawa, Kastina, Lagos,  Rivers, Oyo,  Ondo,  Ogun,  Osun, Delta,  Edo,  Anambra,  Imo, and Enugu just as the material/equipment deployed include over three hundred and fifty (350) Hilux for vehicular patrol,  three (3) Helicopters for specific aerial surveillance and five  (5) ARMOURED PERSONEL CARREEA (APC), 10 ARMOURED PERSONEL Vehicle (APV) for tactical swift response for emergency situations.

“The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated to the good people of Ekiti State of its readiness to perform its mandatory and statutory duties of providing a peaceful environment devoid of violence and to guarantee that law abiding citizens can freely perform their civic responsibility of casting their votes for any candidate of their choice without molestation.

“Members of the public are therefore enjoined to report any suspicious person(s)  to the nearest police station or call the Command Emergency phone number; 08062335577,” the statement further read.
