Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed have on Tuesday quit the All Progressive Congress (APC).
While Saraki was silent on the party he is moving to, Governor Ahmed said he is moving to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Saraki on his Twitter handle on Tuesday said ‘I wish to inform Nigerians that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’
Similarly, Governor Ahmed also announced his exit from the APC.
A statement by Dr. Muyideen Akorede, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Governor, said “following due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed today defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), having realised that the All Progressive Congress (APC) can no longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people.”
