A notorious gang of inter- state kidnappers led by their emperor and Baron, who thought that a change of their crime location from Imo to Lagos state would cover their crime, have been apprehended.
The gang, who police alleged had successfully kidnapped a university lecturer and a medical Doctor in Imo state and collected six million Naira as ransom, had relocated to Igando, Lagos, where they continued their crime enterprise.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspects also dispossessed the university Don of his Toyota High Lander SUV with Registration Number EKY- 744- EH after collecting the ransom they had demanded before his release.
However, their game came open on September 21, 2018 when the Lagos state commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi received an intelligence report that the gang were hibernating in Igando, Lagos.
Based on Edgal directive, the officer in charge of the Federal Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) and the Divisional Police officer in charge of Igando Police Division, CSP Taiwo Kasumu busted their camp and arrested a member of the gang, one Kenneth Chinedu, who later led operatves to the hiding place of other suspects identified as David Obiora, also known as Emperor, Ogbuje Gift, aka Baron, Ogu Obu and Lawrence Ndubuisi.
During interrogation, the suspects were said to have confessed to the crimes and mentioned other gang members who Police alleged fleed with their firearms.
They were also said to have confessed to series of robberies, car snatching within Lagos and its environs.
Operatives also recovered the stolen High Lander Jeep and a Toyota sienna bus with Registration number Epe- 326- FH, suspected to have been stolen.
