The war declared recently by the Lagos State Police Command against unlawful gathering and cultism, appears to be yielding positive results, as no fewer than 26 confessed members of the dreaded ‘Eiye’ confraternity were arrested in the first week of September, 2008.
According to the State Commissioner of Police, (CP), Mr. Edgal Imohimi, who early in the year swore to rid Lagos off cult and cult related crimes, “no fewer than 26 cult members were apprehended last weeks.”
Parading the suspects before journalists on Wednesday September 5th, 2018, at his Commands Headquarter, Ikeja, Lagos, Edgal admonished parents, and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards.
While giving a breakdown of suspects and areas they were arrested, Edgal noted that 21 alleged cult members belonging to Eiye confraternity were caught around Ajegunle axis of Lagos during an inter-cult fight with a rival cult group, while five other alleged cultists were arrested at Lekki Phase I.
Operatives also recovered one locally cut to size pistol, four live cartridges and a battle-axe.
