The rivalry and senseless killings by cult gangs once again came to the fore, as Police paraded a 20-year-old female cultist and secondary school drop out, Mariam Abiola, who confessed that she had killed four persons for her gang at the rate of N10,000 per head.
The soft-spoken and ever smiling suspect, who appeared unrepentant of her actions, was paraded along with other members of her Eiye Confraternity gang by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Edgal Imohimi
Narrating how she joined the cult group and become their favoured human killing machine, Abiola said, “I ran away from my parents house shortly after I dropped out of secondary school at Lafenwa in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“I found my way to Lagos State with a view to getting a job. When I got to Lagos I met ‘Brother’ Sodiq who harboured me in his house at Ilasamaja and subsequently introduced me to Eiye Confraternity.
According to her,” it was after he took me to a native doctor who initiated me by administering a black substance, which I eat, that I started killing rival cult members he instructed me to kill.”
Asked how she acquired her shooting skill, Abiola narrated how Sodiq used a building wall as a shooting range where she and two other boys learnt how to shoot. I practiced three times before I was given a gun.
While further giving a graphic account of how they killed targets, Abiola said that Sodiq provides photographs and addresses of their targets along with the guns for the operation.
“Each time I am assigned to kill, I usually dress in white gown and a white Muslim veil (Hijab) and Sodiq would show us the target house, then my two male accomplices would scale the fence at night, open the gate, then we would move to the target apartment and shoot at close range until he dies.
Showing no remorse for her cold blooded killings, Abiola who stated that she had killed four persons so far, said she does not feel bad because she was being paid N10,000 for the job while her male partners receive N20,000.
CP, who advised parents to take more interest in monitoring their children, stated that Abiola was the cult assassin and armourer.
Edgal, had earlier narrated how he received credible information concerning a cult war between two rival groups at Alafia area of Mushin.
Detectives from SARS, who were dispatched to the scene, later arrested Sodiq and Emeka Ihioma and recovered two live cartridges, two locally made revolver pistols with 9mm ammunition from them.
CP stated that it was Sodiq’s confession regarding his Eiye cult membership and the killing of his brother named Waheed Oyewunmi by Aiye confraternity that led to their recent fighting.
Ihioma, who admitted killing Waheed during a revenge mission against Eiye group, that had allegedly killed one of their member named Michael at Okomola area of Ilasan.
“We decided to kill Waheed, Sodiq’s brother when all our efforts to kill Sodiq failed.” However, further investigation by the Police led to the arrest of one Adio Ogunremi, a principal sponsor and native doctor that prepares charms for Eiye group, who was arrested at his shrine located at 9, Godwin Omomus street, Ilasan, Lagos.
Operatives also arrested one Abdulrasak Yusuf alleged to be an armourer that keeps guns and other dangerous weapons for Aiye cult group.
